Sensient Technology’s main market is the flavour and colour industries for which they now have a fully operational laboratory and bulk-manufacturing factory. The Melbourne branch of Sensient Technology is the Asia Pacific base of this International company.

ARROW'S ROLE

Arrow Internationals role was to design a high quality technical laboratory within the clients budgetary requirements. Arrow and the Architects worked together to refine the scope of work from a two-storey building to a well-designed single level laboratory, thus meeting the clients fiscal needs and including the necessary operating requirements. The building works consisted of three stages as stated below:

Stage One: To extend the existing car park by 29 spaces before the laboratory works could commence.

Stage Two: Construction of two buildings. One containing eight self-contained laboratories with central workstations and the other consisting of a canteen and a toilet block.

Stage Three: Refit of existing administration block and pilot plant-room.

UNIQUE ASPECTS

Significant savings during the project enabled Sensient to increase the scope of work and upgrade the Stage 3 Administration Block.

On completion a total of $180K of trade savings was spent on the upgrade however the project was completed under budget.

The project was completed two months ahead of program including increased scope of $180K.
